you are wanted; the beautiful game
October 31, 2007

Hey everyone, in case you weren’t aware or need reminding, we have been playing soccer on Sunday nights and are planning on joining a league soon. However, our team’s future is in jeopardy if we don’t recruit more players, so this is YOUR chance to get involved with us super-skilled types. I’m mostly kidding about the skill, only one of us is a legend in his own time, but the rest of us are just learning how to play so even if you’ve never played, we want YOU … This Sunday night at 5:00 pm, location to be determined. Comment on this entry if you’re interested, email Ryan, or myspace Rhonda if you want more info. You could also call Nick Burns or Melissa Johnson if you have their numbers … Seriously though, it will be more fun than watching Wheel of Fortune with your grandma; you won’t be sorry!

Ramona/San Bernardo emergency response
October 29, 2007

So often, we watch helplessly on television as commentators and broadcasters try to bring the scope of a disaster into our living rooms. And then shortly after, we are bombarded with appeals for money from organizations we’ve never heard of, and we don’t know how to really help. A small grassroots organization called Christ in Action set up camp yesterday in the hardest hit wildfire-burned area in the state. Ramona, in San Diego County, is home to thousands of displaced residents and hundreds of firefighters are still down there. As Northpark church, we are looking into which organization to support with your financial gifts given this past Sunday and in the future but if you are available to go down south and personally volunteer, this would be a phenomenal opportunity to serve where the need is.
Christ in Action plans to serve 5,000 meals a day during the next week in addition to distributing emergency supplies and much more. Check out their website for all the details.
Trunk or Treat, Restored, Fall Festival
October 25, 2007
This Sunday is our Northpark Fall Festival. Immediately following third service, we’ll have food, play games, look at vintage cars and motorcycles, and then eat some more food. This is a great chance to invite some friends, sleep in late, come to the third service and then hang out. However, if you usually come to Conversations, then you should still show up. Also, I-Ryan, will be speaking together with Bob and Nate during all three services.
Jason and Kim Tatham are in a play Friday and Saturday night at Northeast Assembly. Admission is free and everyone is invited. See the last post for more info.
After Fall Festival on Sunday, everyone who would like to can head out to old town Clovis to support The Quest chuch presents Halloween on Pollasky from 4-6.

Finally, we’ve got a animoto video that recaps the Summer of 2007 with highlights of Northpark church moments. Goodbye summer…have a great weekend.
Get your theater on! “Restored” on Friday, Saturday nights
October 24, 2007
This play, starring none other than our very own Jason Tatham (and also featuring Kim Tatham) is opening for a brief two-performance run this weekend. Catch it while you can.
From the Northeast site: We invite you to come and experience an original, real-life drama production, Restored, which gives a compelling look into the struggle against addiction and the power to overcome it.
Written and produced by Northeast Assembly, we are also partnering with other local churches and addiction recovery groups. Performances are scheduled for October 26th & 27th at 7 p.m.
We hope that you will join us.
Weekly Update Oct.22
October 22, 2007

Hello everyone, a couple of important news items to report to you all:
1. This coming Sunday, Bob is going to be speaking on Northpark being a place for everyone and I will be joining him and Nate to talk about diversity and age differences in church. If you don’t make it into the Multi Purpose Room too often, this Sunday would be a good one to attend since we’ll be talking specifically about you. Services are at 8:00, 9:30, and 11:00 am.
2. There will be no Bible Study Thursday night Oct. 25th at the Townsend’s house. It’s a one week break and the group will resume meeting next Thursday, Nov. 1. Use this time to clean the house or to go watch Across the Universe or make a video like this one
3. We are going to be recruiting and mobilizing volunteers for Serving Fresno Day, Nov. 17th. We’ll meet that Saturday at 8:00 am and spend a few hours investing in our community. Says One by One Leadership, “so come on down and JOIN IN—you can sort food and clothing items, paint houses, plant trees, construct fences, visit seniors, encourage the disabled, clean schools and neighborhoods, collect books, and make a difference in our community.” Mark your calendars now, you know you can make time, the event will be happening from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. More info available at one by one’s website.
4. There’s a new conversation topic up on our forum. This is your chance to have some input in what we talk about on Sunday mornings so join in now…
5. The Plea for Plastic is still in effect. Bring those glass/plastic cups and plates in now … or else …
