Some reminders for this week…
September 18, 2008
Here’s a friendly reminder of a few different things happening this week with the church:
1. The Conversations class is happening this Sunday morning at 10:15 in the Young Adults room. Ryan is continuing his talk on Vintage Jesus and how some teachings about him in today’s culture might not be the entire truth.
2. For those of us that have work, obligations or just like sleeping in every once in a while on Sunday mornings, the 5:00 service is going on this Sunday night.
3. We have partnered up with some friends from People’s Church and The Quest to help start an on-campus club at CSU, Fresno. We want as many people to join and help connect with others in the community. If you, or anyone you know, are a Fresno State student and want to join, let me or Ryan know.
Let me know if you have any questions. I hope to see you all this Sunday.

New song for this sunday, an article from Ryan
September 9, 2008
Hey everyone, a quick Tuesday update: we’re going to be using the song “Love Came Down”, written by a friend of mine, Ben Cantelon. Here’s a YouTube video of the song being used in congregational worship at a Soul Survivor event in the U.K.
Also, I wrote an article for an internet magazine called bohemian-alien about bicycle crashes and toothbrushes and some musings on our recent trip to Mexico.
You can read it at this link if you’d like to.
Big changes are coming to the Sunday night gathering begininng this coming Sunday. Stay tuned.
welcome to the future
September 6, 2008
Hello everyone and welcome to the future.
O.K. >> Sounds a bit dramatic but truthfully, everything is changing around here and for me that’s very exciting.
It’s been a while since I let everyone know what’s up, so I thought it was time to let you know about the three Mission areas for Northpark young adults for the following academic year 2008-2009.
- Small Groups. We will have three brand new midweek connection Bible Studies, plus a revived Conversations class that begins this Sunday at 10:15 AM. Young adults of all ages are invited to enjoy some organic green tea and fair trade coffee. OK and we’ll have donuts and soft drinks as well. I’ll personally be facilitating this group for the next three months and we’ll be studying the Vintage Jesus of the Bible (as opposed to the homogenized, lame one of our current culture). The other groups begin in a little over a week and we’ll be updating you on those during the coming days.
- The Way campus ministry at Fresno State. Raul Hernandez, Landon Holllman and Erin Munster and myself are involved in creating an officially recognized campus organization that exists to spread the Gospel and fulfill the missional call of God to redeem the world. Many, many events and outreach ideas are currently in development. At this time, it appears that the group will kick off with a weekly Bible Study at lunch time on Wednesdays. Stay tuned for much much more.
- Sunday night gathering. Our Northpark third service will be kicking into high gear now as the fall gets under way. If you haven’t yet joined us at 5:00 pm, I encourage you to come and check it out. Our goal is to begin making a dent in the tens of thousands of young adults in Fresno/Clovis that do not currently attend church or know Christ. Every single person who is part of our community, young and old, can be involved in reaching those who do not yet know Christ. We have a mission team of over 25 people, aged 16 to 80 years old, who are already involved. The next step is for you to get involved too!
See you all this Sunday!
Conversations Restart :: This Sunday
September 4, 2008
This Sunday, Sept.
7th, the class everyone loves or loves to hate returns, rejuvenated with all-new material!
Conversations, 10:15 AM in the Young Adults room at Northpark.
Bring a friend, there will be donuts and sodas but also, fruit and organic green tea. This Fall, we will be studying Vintage Jesus…you might be surprised to learn that all of the things we learned about him from our culture might be not be true after all.
Let’s TALK about it.
See you then.
Ryan.
